While conducting a large epidemiological study in China and Taiwan in the 1990s, Dr. T Colin Campbell, Professor of Nutritional Science at Cornell, noticed a surprisingly wide disparity in health profiles among the 170 villages included in the survey. His analysis revealed a close correlation between the incidence of chronic illnesses – such as cancer, heart disease and diabetes – and diet and lifestyle.

Hailed by the scientific community, Dr. Campbell’s groundbreaking work demonstrated that understanding the long-term impact of lifestyle choices is central to predicting and preventing chronic disease. Motivated by his father's life's work, Nelson Campbell joined with his father to lead the founding of BioSignia in 1996. Their early objective was to create a statistical model that accurately predicted the future onset of serious illness based on a unique individual’s characteristics.

In keeping with this vision, BioSignia’s mission today is to provide innovative predictive technologies that help organizations and individuals identify and respond to major health risks before an illness occurs. We currently offer two web-enabled market applications: Know Your Number (KYN) and Mortality Assessment Technology (MAT). Both are turnkey, evidence-based platforms built around Synthesis Analysis^TM, BioSignia’s patented statistical algorithm.
